Barrow Voice is a free community magazine produced quarterly by a group of Community Association volunteers. It is funded by local advertising together with a small contribution from the Community Association.
Barrow Voice aims above all to be readable with a mix of topical news stories, readers’ opinions and a more light-hearted look at village life. It is a ‘voice’ for everyone in the community.
The editorial team meets on average six times a year and new members are always welcome. We are often looking for new people to deliver the magazine to small numbers of households and we are also very pleased to receive your articles and letters.
The Barrow Voice website complements and supports the paper edition.

Created by the Community Association over 10 years ago, this trail celebrates the association of the village with many fossil remains found during the 19th Century.
The two notable finds were an Ichthyosaur (fossil fish lizard) with an unusual preservation of soft body parts and a dinosaur called a Plesiosaur (referred to affectionately as the kipper!)
The Fossil Trail was created using the 10 groups of sculptures made by students of Loughborough College of Art and Design who were inspired by these fossil finds.
The Fossil Trail Leaflet can be picked up free from The Paper Shop, The Parish Office, the Post Office and the Library. There is also a junior version for children.

The Roundhouse started life as the village lock-up but now serves as a small community building right in the centre of Barrow. Owned by the Parish Council and managed by the Community Association, it houses a village map created by the community as a snapshot of life in Barrow in 1996.
The Roundhouse is available free of charge to community groups or individuals as a small exhibition / meeting place.
The Community Association would welcome a new manager to arrange a changing programme of displays and exhibitions or other community events.

barrowparishcouncil@ukonline.co.ukThe Community Association manages this site via a team of Site Editors.
The site is part of the www.leicestershirevillages.com group and can be accessed from this address. It can also be accessed via www.barrowuponsoar.org.uk Any organisation may have its own pages, free of charge, within the website. Editors from that organisation can add or remove items from their own pages. Individuals may also wish to have a page containing material of interest to the village.
The site is easy to use (ie it is “intuitive”). Anyone can view what is in the site. You may wish to register and then, as a registered user, you can post details of events onto the Local News page, advertise goods for sale on the Notice board, or add dates of events to the 'local events calendar'.
For further information, either go to the site or contact one of the Site Editors.
